Tip-Top Brain has truly been a game changer for my kids.

My twins started attending this year as they transitioned from a small parochial school into the 6th grade accelerated class at IS 141. Tip-Top was instrumental in helping them build confidence and find their footing academically.

My daughter, who had struggled with math and reading in the past, is finishing the year with a 97% average. She credits Tip-Top’s afterschool homework help as one of the biggest reasons for her success. She’s learned how to study for tests, how to think critically, and how to stay on top of her schoolwork, something she says she wouldn’t have been able to do as well if I was the one helping at home!

My son, who’s a little less enthusiastic about homework and studying, has also really benefitted. He frequently tells me how Tip-Top’s teachers help him study and sort out his questions on Math and ELA that he missed in class. His classroom at IS141 has more than 30 kids and he often has trouble hearing the teacher or focusing, a challenge most kids have at a larger school. After missing a whole week of school, Tip-Top helped him catch up and stay up to date, he ended up getting 100s on his tests and essays that week! He now turns to Tip-Top anytime he’s confused or behind in class. He is finishing the year in his accelerated class with a 93% Average.

One of the most important things Tip-Top has done is help build academic stamina. Their structured and disciplined two hour afterschool sessions have taught both of my kids how to focus, study, and take their academic work seriously, even outside the classroom. They’re more motivated to read on their own, take pride in their assignments, and treat homework as something to be excited about rather than stressed about.

Another thing that really sets Tip-Top apart is their communication. After every session, they send home detailed notes outlining what was worked on, any areas that need extra support at home, whether something wasn’t finished, and even how my kids behaved and stayed on task. If I knew there was an upcoming test, a big assignment, or a subject my kids were struggling with, I could let Tip-Top know and they’d immediately pivot to focus on that with them.

We’re so grateful for the team at Tip-Top Brain. They’ve helped our kids not just adjust to middle school, but get ahead and learn to like learning and take academics seriously.

Our Answers

Are you open during the summer?
We are open during the summer, the days/hours vary. Please contact us at (718) 440 – 3541 for further information.
Each group session is one-hour long. Private sessions can vary based on student need.
The assessment is required in order for us to create their individualized learning plan that is unique to your child. Each child is at a different level in their academic career, and thus should not have to learn material they already know or be forced to learn material they are not yet ready for. The assessment pinpoints both their reading and math levels down to the sub-skill level. And this ensures success!
Our policy requires that parents give us a 30-day advanced notice when they would like to discontinue any tutoring services. Nope! All of our programs are no contract!

This varies on the classroom. Some classrooms hold more, some hold less. However, what’s most important is the teacher to student ratio. Our teacher to student ratio is 1:6, so no matter the classroom size, this ratio is always the same!

This depends of course on the needs of your child and parent budget. However, we do strongly recommend a minimum of 2 sessions (two-hours long) per week. We offer a one time per week option as well for parents who cannot make it more than once.
No. Tip-Top Brain is a NO HOMEWORK ZONE! We understand how much work our students already receive in school, and so we do not believe that adding to that load will do any good. We want our students coming and leaving with a positive mental attitude. They are here for help or to improve certain skills, not to go home with a book bag full of extra work. Your child’s mental health is something we take very seriously, inside and outside of the classroom.
