Summer STEM Camp Lead Instructor | Grades 3-8

Currently hiring knowledgeable, reliable, and compassionate instructors for our Summer STEAM Camp!

Our educational summer camp runs for the months of July and August 2024 and will be focusing on various STEAM themes each week. In addition, students will be working on enhancing their Reading, Writing, and Math skills to prepare for the next school year.

Key Responsibility

  • Have extensive knowledge and experience teaching all subtopics of Common Core ELA and Math for grades 3-8The subtopics for Math include Numbers and Operations, Algebra & Algebraic Thinking, Measurement & Data, and Geometry. The subtopics of ELA include Phonics, High-Frequency words, Vocabulary, and Comprehension in Informational & Literary Texts. 
  • Attend Teacher Team Meetings when announced.
  • Work closely with the Center Director and center staff to meet students’ academic goals.
  • Explain to parents how their child is progressing in the class, what skills they are improving on, and what needs more work in person as well as through daily progress notes.
  • Keeps classroom(s) clean and organized (e.g. sharpened pencils, materials ready before class, wiping down desks, empty trash bins, etc.).
  • Monitor/engage with students during lunch/park time.
  • Arrive by 8:30 am.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in English, Mathematics, Education, or a related field) or higher is required; college Juniors/Seniors will be considered.
  • Internship/volunteer work available for the right candidates.
  • AP-level knowledge in Math is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Highly skilled, motivated, versatile, dependable, and dynamic individuals with strong communication skills.
  • Able to work independently, and multi-task.
  • Friendly, patient, and sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population.
  • No teacher certification is required, but having one or being in the process of attainment is a plus.
  • Teaching or tutoring experience is required.
  • Must have great classroom management skills.
  • Experience with students with IEPs is preferred, but not required.
  • CPR/First-Aid certification is highly preferred, but not required.
